Our accommodation: Apartment Jenny, Benidorm
Our lovely apartment is available for rent for 12 months of the year, and features two balconies overlooking the beach. It is in a quiet area yet is a short bus ride away (bus stop is close to the apartment) from Benidorm "Old Town" or a 25 minute stroll along the front. It is situated on Poniente Beach, the quieter bay in Benidorm and is perfect for those looking for a relaxing holiday. However, for those wanting a more lively time, Levante Beach with all the hub-bub is still within easy reach.
The apartment is in a small block, 4 storeys high with about 10 dwellings on each floor. The lounge and bedroom both have an air-conditioning/heating unit. There is a T.V with BBC, ITV etc, CD player and double bed settee. WIFI is also facilitated. Off the lounge is the breakfast bar area, with fridge/freezer and microwave. The iron and ironing board is also stored here. The kitchen is fully equipped for 4 people, and has an oven with 4-plate hob. The bathroom has a shower over the half-size bath, and washing machine. The bedroom has single beds and large built-in wardrobe/storage space. Leading from the bedroom is a small balcony with clothes drying lines.
The lounge has sliding patio doors to the larger balcony, with a roller shutter for noise reduction, privacy and security. This balcony has table and chairs for al fresco dining, and also an attractive awning to keep it shady during the heat of the day. This is a lovely spot for relaxing and people watching, with a view over the sea to Bird Island. The two balconies at either end of the apartment mean that there is a shady or sunny spot to sit at most times of the day, summer and winter.
For your convenience secure car parking is available under and around the building, accessed by a key. Also in the outdoor area washing lines are provided for larger items, and a shower to wash away the sand and seawater when you have been on the beach.
As dog-owners ourselves, we do not object to clients taking their (well-behaved) small dogs to our apartment. However, we do require an additional £50 "damage bond", returnable after the holiday provided the apartment and contents are left in a satisfactory condition.
Although many clients take a taxi to the apartment directly from the airport (the nearest is Alicante), there are other options which can all be booked online in advance. Obviously there are many carhire companies, and we can recommend www.carjet.com. A coach runs into the centre of Benidorm now, operated by the "Ailsa" company. And of course, a "resorthopper" type transport would drop you off either outside the apartment or at the nearest large hotel, the Delphin.
Obviously, we hope that all goes well during your holiday at our apartment, but should you need help or advice we have British staff in the area for your peace of mind should an emergency occur. We supply you with their telephone numbers prior to your holiday, and they can also provide a welcome pack ready for your arrival should you so wish. We send travel directions to your home before you travel, and our staff contact you in advance to arrange to "meet and greet" with the apartment key.
Please note that this is a 2nd floor apartment and can only be accessed by stairs.
The sea close to the apartment is shallow and so is ideal for children. On the sand itself there are palm trees to provide shade, a climbing frame, volleyball nets and "pyramid" climbing net, and it is kept spotlessly clean by machinery working late each night. It is a much quieter area, so you won't find sunbeds row upon row, as you do on the Levante Beach.
Behind the apartment block is a row of shops, with a supermarket, tobacco and drink shop, and chemist. The chemists in Spain are more highly qualified than in Britain, and can advise you should you have health problems, saving a trip to the Doctor. There are cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance, with many different cuisines. Benidorm itself is only a short bus ride away, and is a wonderful shopping area, ranging from 'cheap and cheerful' for the kids, to designer shops. There is also a market twice a week. La Marina, close to the apartment, also has designer shops, a cinema showing some English films, bowling alley, and theme pubs on the roof terrace! There is live music here during the summer months. There is also an enormous Carrefour situated next to it, all only a few minutes drive/bus ride from our apartment. For a really special night, try 'Benidorm Palace', a truly exotic show, where you can also dine if you want to.
Be sure to check out our Photo gallery for more pictures of the apartment and surrounding area and Benidorm itself.
Things to do in the area
For those looking for adventure and a brilliant day out, there is the Terra Mitica theme park, Aqualandia water park, and Mundomar, a marine and exotic animal park. Or you can take a ride on the tourist train (see photo above) which runs along the promenade.
For those with a car make sure you visit Guadalest, an ancient monastery town immersed in history, with stunning views over mountains and turquoise reservoir pools. Whilst there you must not miss a visit to Fonts D'Algar (see picture on left), a breath taking experience of natural water falls and rock pools. Be sure to take your swim suit.
If you prefer, organized trips can be booked locally to the above sights, as well as to nearby resorts such as Calpe, Moraira, Javea and Denia. Many people enjoy a ride on the "Lemon Express", as well as the famous "blanket trip".
