Our accomodation: Casa Jenny Villa, Moraira

Our villa is perfect for those looking for a family get away, and for those who want the use of their own pool as well as wanting to be within easy reach of lovely beaches. Our 3 bedroomed villa is private and spacious and is located in Moraira, a well regarded coastal town with lots of bars, restaurants, beautiful shops and clean beaches. It is a 1-hour motorway drive from the nearest airport, Alicante, 30 minutes drive from Benidorm and whether you want to spend your time relaxing by the pool, or exploring the region, a stay at Casa Jenny offers it all.  We also feel it is suitable for winter holidays, being equipped with a wood-burner which radiates heat throughout the villa.

The traditionally styled villa is on one level and has 3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a spacious lounge, conservatory and kitchen.  All windows are fitted with mosquito netting.  Our pool measures 5 metres x 10 metres, and is approx 4 ft deep at the shallow end, sloping down to about 8 ft deep.  It has roman steps into the shallow end. which  is ideal for children to access the water.  The  pool and surrounding patio area is not visible from the road, and is reached down a few steps, as well as the BBQ, outside shower and utility/storage room (with washing machine).  There is also access to the pool level via several more shallow steps for the less mobile, push-chairs etc.  Typically Spanish gardens are scattered here and there to add to the charm.

The villa enters via the conservatory which is furnished with a bed-settee. This leads in to the lounge with comfy settee and chairs, coffee table, and dining table with chairs. It has a radio/cd player, and TV with satellite TV so has many English channels including BBC, ITV etc.  For cosy winters we have installed a wood-burner, which radiates heat throughout the villa, and our staff are on hand with help and advice as to the purchase of the wood.  We also have put together a bit of a library where you are free to read and exchange your holiday books. Off the lounge is the kitchen which is amply equipped for 8 people. It has an upright fridge/freezer, oven and 4 ringed hob, and the usual microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee maker etc.  Portable fans are provided for the summer months, and all bedrooms are fitted with an aircon/heating unit.

To the rear of the lounge is a corridor to access the bedrooms. The villa has one room with double bed and two with two singles each, all with built in wardrobes. At each end of the corridor is a bathroom. One has a full bath with shower over it, basin and toilet. The other has a shower cubicle, basin and toilet.

Outside there are numerous patio areas.  This photo illustrates the area outside the conservatory which is fabulous for breakfast in the morning and dining and drinks in the evening overlooking the pool. It also now has an awning over the area, for versatility regarding sun/shade. There is plenty of room around the pool and BBQ area with tables, chairs, umbrellas and sun loungers with cushions for maximum comfort. We have a games room  accessed from the bbq area, below ground level so it is a cool room in the summer, and ideal for those wanting a little time out of the sun. It features a genuine half-size pool table, full-size table tennis and darts..  There is a large parking area within the villa grounds, secured behind a high wall and gates, ideal if you are holidaying with another family and have more than one car.  We usually advise the use of a car and can recommend www.carjet.co.uk.  However, there are taxis available at the airport, also there are many resort-hopper companies running transport from there into Moraira.

The entire perimeter of the villa can be made secure by padlocking the gates to the road, so that you can relax knowing children are safe within the grounds.  Of course, since Madeleine McCann's heart-breaking disappearance, parents should be vigilant at all times and keep their offspring in sight at all times.

Obviously, we hope that all goes well while you are staying at Casa Jenny, but should you need help or advice, we have  English staff close by should you need them.  Before you go, we will supply their telephone numbers so that you will have peace of mind should an emergency arise.  They are also happy to supply a welcome pack prior to your arrival, should you need one, for a small fee.  We send the villa keys and travel directions to your home address before you travel.

The urbanisation

Casa Jenny is situated in a quiet urbanised area about a 5-minute drive from Moraira town centre.  It is situated on a hill, as most Spanish villas are in order to take advantage of any breeze in the summer, so it is about a half-hour walk to the town, but an hour's walk back!

However, just a short walking distance from the villa are many amenities:

The Brevis Bar has an outdoor play area for children (see photo on left), including a bouncy castle and crazy-golf.  In the same area is a bank and bakery.  Next door is Solpark Tennis club, with bar and restaurant, tennis courts and mini-golf.  Opposite Solpark is the chemist, and in Spain the dispensers are more highly qualified than in Britain so that you can ask their advice to save a visit to the doctor.  However, if an emergency occurs there are doctors and dentists in the area, who either speak English or have a translator.

Also within easy walking distance of the villa is an area which includes a supermarket, hairdresser,  newsagent, car hire and our favourite, Pub Bariloche, where you will get an extremely warm British welcome.  There is a bar which serves excellent English breakfasts, and another which freshly cooks really tasty food.  For the more adventurous, La Pasada is a friendly Spanish restaurant.   Wi-fi is available in this area, so you can keep in touch with home whilst enjoying the sun!

Local Amenities

Moraira, once only a small fishing village, is now an upmarket coastal town which still retains its original charm. The recently refurbished promenade blends perfectly with the old castle and blue flag beach. The original harbour area boasts narrow, traditional Spanish streets with designer outlets mingling with quaint souvenir shops. For gourmets there are many high quality restaurants of various cuisines from British grub to Spanish tapas. Moraira has a large Friday market where you can buy souvenirs as well as clothing and food, and in the evenings you can wander round the craft stalls set up in the town square.

For the more energetic,  there is go-karting, quad-bike hire, horse-riding, tennis, jet skiing, scuba diving, fishing and other water sports.

Children are especially well catered-for.  Moraira has 2 splendid beaches.  L'Ampollo beach is in the centre of Moraira and has playgrounds both on and off the beach.  The sand is perfect for sandcastles, and there are rockpools below the castle to explore.  There is also a rivulet running onto the beach, where tiny fish are just begging for children with nets to catch them (to be put back afterwards of course!).  There is an adult exercise equipment area in the park next to the beach, and it is all within easy reach of shops and cafes.

A 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk from the town centre is the beautiful cove of El Portet (shown on the right).  If you choose to walk, the area between the road and the sea has been landscaped with purpose-made paths to take full advantage of the lovely views over the bay.   This beach has beautiful golden sand and clean water, and also has cafes to refresh yourself in the sun.  Both beaches have been awarded the prestigious "blue flag".

Fonts D'Algar

Things to do in the area

For those looking for adventure and a brilliant day out, there is the Terra Mitica theme park, Aqualandia water park, and Mundomar - a marine and exotic animal park. All of these are based in Benidorm, 30 minutes drive away and clearly signposted from the motorway.

Not to be missed is a visit to Guadalest (a real tourist hot spot) -an ancient monastery town immersed in history, with stunning views over mountains and turquoise reservoir pools. Whilst there you should visit Fonts D'Algar, a breathtaking experience of natural water falls and rock pools. Be sure to take your swim suit!

For a special night out, of course there is the Benidorm Palace, which is not expensive and features a truly spectacular cosmopolitan show.

Organized tours of all the above places can be booked in Moraira, as well as trips to interesting local towns such as Calpe, Javea and Denia.
